January Cohorts Discussion
Hi George, Tatiana:
I had a question for the January cohorts meeting I wanted to provide ahead of time. When I attended PBP George mentioned something to the effect of, “if you’re driving along and you see a beautiful striation of color in the earth, you can take a shovel or two of earth; it will probably make a pretty good paint.” I wanted to try this. There are some parts of CO where I see beautiful earth colors. I planned on getting some local earth, wash it with distilled water, grind some down with a mortar and pestle, make a paint, and perform a rudimentary lightfast test (mass tone and half tone of a known lightfast paint alongside my new paint. Both half covered and in a window for a month.)
Is it as “simple” as that or are there some basic factors in seriously overlooking?
