Enjoyed your article about the use of egg yoke in Renaissance painting. I experimented with adding egg yoke last year. It was interesting in a tactile sense but noticed it dried very fast on my palette and the canvas. So, one point in the article was, to me, counterintuitive: the “antioxidant properties of yolk proteins slow oxidative reactions”. This was an eye opener. Nice to learn the advantages and disadvantages too. Thanks.

I was also very interested in this topic. I haven’t tried it yet, but am looking forward to doing so.

This is one of my questions about the study or how the authors measured the drying. Our experiments found that egg-oil mixtures seized quickly, although they may not have been cured. This is something we can discuss in more detail.
