Brush Care and Cleaning

BRUSH CARE

Restrict each brush to a single medium.

When scrubbing or brushing on a rough surface, use an inexpensive brush.

Rest brushes on the ferrule, not on the tuft.

Treat synthetic hair brushes the same as natural hair.

If brushes remain unused for long periods, shape the tuft by wrapping with paper or gum arabic.

Avoid getting paint into the ferrule.

Brush Cleaning

Wipe paint off the brush with a paper towel, from ferrule to tip.

Rinse brush in vegetable oil.

If using solvents, do not immerse up to the ferrule.

Wash and reshape brush using lukewarm water and soap or a brush cleaner. Use a tooth brush to remove dried paint from the ferrule to the tip.

Dry brushes laying flat or upright, except squirrel brushes, which should be dried suspended head down.

Dry brushes in the open.
